Two Ways We Can Help

Not Every Patient Needs the Same Type of Visit

Some people come to our office with a straightforward concern: something hurts, feels tight, or is not moving well, and they want focused care to help them feel and function better.

Others are looking for a more detailed evaluation because a problem keeps returning, several areas seem connected, or previous treatment has provided only temporary improvement.

Uncommon Chiropractic offers two distinct types of visits to meet those different needs. Both are legitimate forms of care, but they are different appointments with different purposes, time requirements, and expectations.

Standard Chiropractic Visit

Focused Care for a Familiar or Straightforward Complaint

A standard chiropractic visit is designed for patients who have a specific musculoskeletal complaint and want a focused, efficient treatment visit.

You may simply have an “owy”—a sore neck, a tight back, an irritated hip, or another area that is bothering you—and want treatment directed toward helping you feel and move better.

What the visit may include

These appointments are generally 20 minutes or less and may include:

  • Focused soft-tissue work
  • Chiropractic adjustments
  • Interferential current therapy when clinically appropriate
  • Brief reassessment of the area being treated

This visit may be appropriate when

  • You have a straightforward or familiar complaint.
  • You already know how your body typically responds to care.
  • You want a shorter, problem-focused appointment.
  • You are seeking routine chiropractic care without a comprehensive Applied Kinesiology evaluation.

The standard chiropractic visit remains an important part of our practice. Patients who want or need this type of care are welcome at Uncommon Chiropractic.

Primary Clinical Focus

Applied Kinesiology Visit

A Separate, More Detailed Evaluation

Applied Kinesiology is the primary clinical focus of Uncommon Chiropractic.

This is a separate appointment—not an expanded version of the standard chiropractic visit. It allows time for a more detailed evaluation of how different areas and systems of the body may be influencing one another.

Questions this visit may explore

  • Why does this problem keep returning?
  • Why is one side of the body moving or stabilizing differently from the other?
  • Why are certain muscles not functioning as expected?
  • What may be interfering with recovery?
  • Why has previous treatment provided only temporary relief?

What the visit may include

Depending on your history and examination findings, the visit may include:

  • Detailed health and injury history
  • Orthopedic and neurological examination
  • Postural, gait, and movement assessment
  • Range-of-motion testing
  • Manual muscle testing
  • Joint and soft-tissue evaluation
  • Assessment of movement patterns and compensation
  • Consideration of nutritional, lifestyle, and other clinically relevant factors
  • Treatment and retesting based on the findings

This visit may be appropriate when

  • Your symptoms are recurring, persistent, or difficult to explain.
  • Several areas of the body appear to be involved.
  • You have not received the improvement you expected from previous care.
  • You want a more comprehensive examination of function rather than a brief symptom-focused visit.
  • You are interested in understanding possible contributors to the problem, not simply treating the painful area.

Because the evaluation is more involved, Applied Kinesiology must be scheduled as its own appointment. A full Applied Kinesiology assessment cannot be added to a standard 20-minute chiropractic visit.

Which Visit Should I Schedule?

Choose an Applied Kinesiology Visit if your problem is recurring, complex, involves multiple areas, or you want a more detailed investigation into why your body may not be recovering as expected.

If you are unsure, contact our office. We can help you choose the appointment that best matches what you are looking for.

Care Should Match the Reason You Came In

Sometimes you need a focused visit to address a painful or restricted area. Sometimes your body is asking for a more thorough investigation. Our goal is to provide the type of visit that fits your needs—and to make the difference clear before you schedule.
